Shareholder education refers to a process of informing and educating shareholders regarding critical aspects of the family business. Family businesses may have shareholders who are not actively engaged in the business, and thus may not be familiar with strategic business and financial issues. Keeping all shareholders informed and educated increases the likelihood that shareholders will make informed decisions regarding the business, and be supportive of management decisions.
