The Institute for Family Business is an independent, not-for-profit, politically neutral, membership association which supports the UK family-owned business sector through Advocacy, Education and Research.

The Board of Directors, drawn from a cross-section of the IFB membership, has the overall responsibility for directing the Institute and setting policy. The Board is supported by a number of standing committees.

The IFB's Directors are:
Chairman: Andrew TA Wates,
Wates Family Holdings
Roshanak Dwyer, Butane Group
Robert Hoare, C Hoare & Co
Bella Hopewell, C Hoare & Co
Mike Roberts, Frank Roberts & Sons Ltd
Christopher Hayman, Hayman Ltd
David Kaye, Kaye Enterprises Ltd
Danny Jatania, Lornamead Ltd
Martin Bailey, NG Bailey
Alexander Scott, Stramongate Ltd
Mark Shepherd, Shepherd Group
Christopher Oughtred, William Jackson & Son Ltd

Sharing knowledge and experience through the network - regionally, nationally and internationally - is a key focus of the IFB's work. Providing the highest quality programmes, from the National Forum Conference to seminars and networking evenings, IFB events provide unparalleled opportunities for family business owners to gather and learn from each other.

The IFB membership covers a broad spectrum of industry, including banking and investment, retail and distribution, manufacturing, construction, food and drinks. Many are ranked in the top 500 UK family businesses and some are smaller enterprises; all derive the same benefit and value from membership of the association.
Membership of the IFB is for the family business, not an individual, so all family members are welcome to participate in IFB activities and engage with the network.
